Pixel 9a Review: Great Camera, Smart Design, Good Deal

The Google Pixel 9a is the latest budget-friendly phone from Google, priced at ₹49,999 in India. It’s available in three colours: Obsidian (Black), Porcelain (White), and Iris (Blue). This phone continues the winning formula of previous Pixel A-series models, offering a solid mix of performance, camera quality, and clean software at a more affordable price.

One of the biggest changes is its design. Unlike last year’s Pixel 8a, the new Pixel 9a has a flat frame, flat display, and rounded corners. It looks more like the premium Pixel 9 series now. The rear camera setup also sits flush with the body, giving it a sleeker look. The phone is made of aluminium on the sides and plastic on the back with a matte finish. Though the finish looks premium, it easily attracts fingerprints, especially in the Obsidian variant.

The phone has a 6.3-inch POLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. Google says it can go up to 2,700 nits of peak brightness. In real-world use, the screen is bright and clear, even in sunlight. The front is protected by older Gorilla Glass 3, which is a bit disappointing considering many phones in this price range offer newer and stronger glass.

The Pixel 9a runs on Google’s latest Tensor G4 chip, has 8GB of RAM, and comes with 256GB of storage. It also features a large 5,100mAh battery—the biggest ever in a Pixel phone—and supports fast charging.

Camera-wise, the Pixel 9a delivers great results for the price. It has a dual rear camera setup, with Google’s well-known photo processing that helps capture sharp, colourful pictures even in low light.

Overall, the Pixel 9a offers a great mix of design, display, performance, battery life, and excellent cameras. It’s perfect for those who want a clean Android experience and love taking photos. For ₹49,999, it’s a really good buy.
