Amazon India has launched its Rufus AI assistant on desktop just in time for the Prime Day 2025 sale. This smart shopping tool will now be available on Amazon’s website for PC and laptop users from July 12 to 14. Rufus was earlier only available on Amazon’s mobile apps but is now being expanded to desktops to help more customers during the busy sale days.
The announcement was made at the Prime Day India event in Yashobhoomi convention centre, Delhi NCR. Amazon says Rufus will guide users in finding the best deals, comparing products, and making smart shopping choices. This will make it easier for shoppers to get help without switching devices.
Rufus is an AI chatbot launched in February 2024 and brought to India in August the same year. At first, it was only offered in the US, then later added to the Amazon app in India. Even now, Rufus is in beta mode but is being actively improved based on user feedback.
Shoppers can talk to Rufus by typing or using voice commands. The chatbot uses Amazon’s large database to answer questions like: “Which is the best phone under ₹30,000?”, “What are today’s top deals?”, or “What should I know before buying a smartwatch?” Rufus can also handle follow-up questions and gives replies in simple, natural language.
On the desktop version, users will find Rufus ready to help while browsing Amazon’s site. This feature is especially useful during Prime Day, when thousands of products go on discount and finding the right deal can be confusing.
Rufus is marked on the mobile app with a sparkle icon in the bottom right corner. It opens a chat screen where users can type questions, speak to the bot, or choose from quick suggestions.
With Rufus AI now on desktop, Amazon aims to make shopping easier, faster, and smarter for millions of customers during the Prime Day 2025 event.
