YouTube has launched a new AI-powered search feature to help users find better and quicker results, especially when searching for travel, shopping, or local activities.
This new feature shows an AI-generated search results carousel. It includes a row of video thumbnails along with a short summary written by AI. For example, if someone searches for “best beaches in Hawaii,” the AI will show videos of popular spots, snorkeling, and trip tips — all in one place.
This feature is currently available only for YouTube Premium users in the US, but it will soon be rolled out to more users, including non-Premium users in the US.
The update is very similar to Google’s AI Overviews, which summarize web results using artificial intelligence. YouTube’s version does the same but focuses on videos. The goal is to make content discovery smarter and faster for users, especially in categories like travel planning or product buying.
YouTube first introduced AI tools in 2023, allowing users to get more insights about videos while watching. Now, it’s expanding that effort with this smart search update.
