Samsung recently launched a teaser campaign for its next-generation foldable smartphones. Today, the South Korean tech giant released a new video teaser, highlighting a key feature of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 — a thinner and lighter design. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 at the next Galaxy Unpacked event, which is rumored to take place in July in New York.
Samsung Teased The New Galaxy Z Fold
In a blog post published on Tuesday, Samsung teased its next-generation foldable device, likely to be the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The company described the upcoming Galaxy Z series as its “thinnest, lightest, and most advanced foldables yet.” The post, which includes tags for “Galaxy Z Fold” and features a video showing a book-style foldable smartphone, strongly points to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 rather than the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Samsung also hinted that the new model will offer an Ultra-level experience. The company emphasized that with each new iteration of the Galaxy Z series, its engineers and designers aim to make the devices slimmer, lighter, and more durable.
Recent leaks have suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be significantly thinner than its predecessors. It’s rumored to measure just 3.9mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded. For comparison, last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 was 5.6mm thick when unfolded and 12.2mm when folded. Competing models like the Oppo Find N5 are 4.21mm unfolded and 8.93mm folded, while the upcoming Vivo X Fold 5 is expected to be 4.3mm and 9.33mm in those states, respectively.
Samsung is expected to unveil the new Galaxy Z series foldables in July, likely during its Galaxy Unpacked event in New York. Leading up to the launch, the company appears set to continue releasing teasers. Alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, Samsung is also anticipated to introduce a new Fan Edition (FE) variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
