Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has strongly criticized the NDA government in Bihar for the worsening law and order situation in the state. He accused the BJP and JDU alliance of turning Bihar into a “crime capital.”
Kharge made these remarks on social media platform X, following a shocking murder case in Purnia. In this incident, five members of a family, including children, were burned alive due to suspected black magic practices. The police said that the attack was carried out by members of the Oraon community. A survivor, 16-year-old Sonu Kumar, confirmed this horrifying act to the police.
Highlighting this incident, Kharge also pointed out that eight businessmen have been murdered in Bihar in the past six months. He added that the police were beaten up five times during this period. One of the victims was Gopal Khemka, a well-known businessman from Patna. He was shot dead outside his home near Gandhi Maidan on July 4.
Kharge accused the “double-engine” NDA government of failing to protect citizens and said crime, poverty, and injustice are rising rapidly in Bihar. He also stated that while the Modi government claims development, investments in the state exist only on paper due to poor law and order.
He expressed concern that both social and economic justice have deteriorated under the current leadership. According to Kharge, the people of Bihar are now demanding change.
He said the upcoming Assembly election is the right time to bring this change. He assured that the INDIA alliance is ready to offer a new future to Bihar, promising better governance and safety.
“Bihar will not remain sick anymore. Change is certain. The INDIA alliance will bring that change,” Kharge said confidently.
Bihar’s Assembly elections are expected in October or November this year, although the Election Commission has not announced the official dates yet. The state is likely to see a high-stakes political battle between the NDA and the INDIA alliance.
