The Karnataka government has started a new study to understand how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing jobs in the state. This study will help the government create a better IT Policy 2025 and guide future job training programs.
This project is being led by the Department of Electronics, IT and Biotechnology. It will support the government’s skill development plan called NIPUNA Karnataka.
Karnataka’s IT Minister Priyank Kharge said that Bengaluru is now one of the top AI hubs in the world, ranked #5 globally in AI and Big Data. The city has over 1 lakh AI professionals, and the state’s tech workforce has crossed 1 million people.
He added that AI is changing industries very quickly, and we must ensure that workers don’t get left behind. This study will help the government understand which jobs are changing and what new skills are needed.
The government is asking companies, HR heads, tech experts, and universities to take part in the AI Workforce Impact Survey. The survey will collect opinions on how AI is being used in daily work, which departments are changing the most, and which jobs are at risk of being replaced by machines.
The results will help the government:
- Find skill gaps in the workforce
- Discover new job roles in AI and tech
- Understand which sectors are most affected
- Plan better training and support programs
The main goal is to make sure Karnataka stays ahead in tech while protecting its workers. The new IT policy will focus on innovation and job safety.
