Apple has announced iOS 26, its new software update for iPhones. It was introduced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025. The update is now available for developers. A public beta will come in July, and the final version will likely launch by the end of 2025 with the new iPhones.
Fresh New Design
iOS 26 has a new “Liquid Glass” design. It includes smooth animations, see-through layers, and updated app icons. The Lock Screen and apps like Safari, Camera, and Photos also get a clean, new look.
Apple Intelligence Features
Apple is adding many smart AI tools called “Apple Intelligence.” These include:
- Real-time translation during audio
- Smart content suggestions
- On-screen help and emoji creation
- Image generation and ChatGPT support
- Email summaries
Better Phone and Message Apps
The Phone app now puts Recents, Favourites, and Voicemails in one place. Two new tools are:
- Call Screening: Helps avoid unknown callers
- Hold Assist: Mutes music while on hold
Messages also get:
- Filters for unknown senders
- Chat backgrounds and group polls
- Apple Cash payments in chats
Other Cool Updates
- CarPlay adds pinned chats and widgets
- Apple Music shows translated lyrics
- Maps has encrypted location history
- Wallet gives live travel updates
- AirPods now support voice isolation and remote camera control
- New features for people with disabilities like better screen reading
New Apple Games App
Apple also launched a new Games app to track progress, access Apple Arcade, and discover games easily.
Supported iPhones
iOS 26 will work on iPhone 11 and newer. But Apple Intelligence tools will only run on iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models due to special hardware needs.
