India reported 10 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases down slightly to 7,383, the Health Ministry said on Sunday, June 15, 2025.
Of the 10 deaths, 5 were from Kerala, 3 from Delhi, and 2 from Maharashtra. One of the people who died was a 32-year-old man from Maharashtra. The rest were older people who already had breathing problems and other health issues.
India is seeing a small rise in Covid cases again. This is because of new virus subvariants like LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and a new one called NB.1.8.1.
Kerala has the highest number of active cases at 2,007, followed by Gujarat with 1,441 cases. Maharashtra has 578 cases, and Delhi has 682. In the past day, Kerala saw the biggest drop with 102 fewer cases. Maharashtra saw 35 fewer cases, but Delhi had 10 more cases.
Doctors are not suggesting mass booster shots for everyone right now. Instead, they want booster doses only for people who are old, sick, or have weak immune systems. Most people in India now have some protection from earlier infections or vaccines, so another dose may not be needed for all.
Health experts are still asking people to follow Covid safety rules. These include wearing masks, washing hands often, and avoiding crowds. The government has told states to stay alert and be ready if more cases appear.
Doctors also warn that seasonal flu and Covid can have similar symptoms like fever and cough. So, people need to be careful and get checked if they feel sick.
The Indian Medical Association has reminded everyone to keep following good hygiene to stay safe.
