Apple is planning to launch a more affordable version of the MacBook Air. This new model could use the same processor as the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro — the A18 Pro chip. The aim is to provide a budget-friendly MacBook option for people who want macOS without spending a lot.
This move marks a big change from Apple’s current use of M-series chips in MacBooks. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a trusted tech expert, shared this update. He said that Apple might introduce this cheaper MacBook by late 2025 or early 2026.
The A18 Pro chip, though not as powerful as the M-series chips, is still very capable. It is said to be similar in performance to the older M1 chip from 2020. This makes it perfect for daily tasks like web browsing, writing documents, watching videos, and even using AI tools.
The new MacBook may have a 13-inch screen and could be based on the design of the older M1 MacBook Air. This means it might come with thicker bezels, but still offer a better display than many entry-level Windows laptops.
Apple reportedly plans to produce 5 to 7 million units of this low-cost MacBook in 2026. This shows the company is serious about reaching more users, especially students and budget-conscious buyers.
To attract young users, Apple might also launch this model in fun new colours like pink and yellow, along with the classic silver.
