Amazon CEO Warns: AI Will Cut Jobs in Coming Years

Amazon To Replace Human Jobs With AI

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has told employees that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will lead to a smaller corporate workforce in the future. His recent message to Amazon’s 1.5 million employees hints at more job cuts as the company invests heavily in generative AI tools and AI agents.

Jassy called AI a “once-in-a-lifetime technology” that will change the way Amazon works. He encouraged employees to learn AI tools and find ways to work more efficiently with smaller teams. He admitted that the company will need fewer people for some jobs, while new roles will be created in different areas. But overall, Amazon expects fewer corporate jobs in the coming years.

Experts believe this message is a soft warning about future layoffs. Amazon has already laid off thousands of workers in the last few years—27,000 employees lost jobs in 2022, and more cuts have happened in 2025.

Jassy’s announcement reflects a bigger trend in the tech world. As companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta adopt AI, many white-collar jobs are at risk. AI can now write up to 30% of code at major companies, reducing the need for human software engineers.

Some experts, like Dario Amodei—CEO of leading AI company Anthropic—warn that up to 50% of entry-level office jobs could disappear in the next five years. He also predicted that unemployment could rise to 10–20% due to AI replacing human workers.

In short, AI is changing how companies operate—and while it brings innovation, it also threatens many traditional jobs. Employees across the tech industry may now need to reskill or adapt to stay relevant in the age of automation.
