Aisha Rao Turns Fabric Waste into Stunning Bridal Fashion

Aisha Rao is changing the way people look at bridal fashion. She began her fashion label with a simple idea—to use leftover fabric and turn it into beautiful clothes. Today, her designs are full of bright colours, detailed embroidery, and a strong focus on saving waste. Now, her brand is getting ready to take the spotlight at India Couture Week for the first time.

Before becoming a fashion designer, Aisha was studying law at NUJS. But she followed her heart and studied fashion in Barcelona and later in New York at Parsons School of Design. That’s where she learned how to make clothes with structure and care.

In 2018, Aisha launched her own label. She focused on making outfits for weddings and parties by using waste fabric and turning it into new, colourful clothes. Her styles include traditional Indian handwork like aari, zardozi, and macramé. Bollywood stars such as Kareena Kapoor Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Sara Ali Khan have worn her outfits.

A Fashion Journey Built on Colour and Care

Her early collections—like Razzmatazz and Pastiche—used bold colours like pink, blue, and yellow. She often uses raw silk, because it holds colour well and looks rich. Later, she added materials like organza, zari tissue, and lurex jacquards to her work. No matter the fabric, Aisha always makes sure that her designs stay detailed and vibrant.

Her newest line, Matilda, adds an elegant, heirloom feel with Benarasi silk and soft prints, showing her growth as a designer.

Aisha Rao’s designs are now also available as home decor, including colourful rugs that match her clothing style. Her clothes are sold in top stores across India and in countries like the UK, USA, and Canada.

This year, she opened her third store in Delhi and will debut at India Couture Week. With ready-to-wear lines like Trencadis and Starboard & Port, plus accessories under Kinfolk, Aisha offers everything from bridal wear to daily fashion—all with a bold, eco-friendly touch.
