Advanced Siri: At WWDC 2024, Apple unveiled iOS 18, highlighting its new suite of artificial intelligence (AI) features. While several of these capabilities have since rolled out to iPhones, the much-anticipated Apple Intelligence-powered Siri — featuring contextual awareness and natural language processing — has yet to launch. However, a recent report indicates that Apple has internally scheduled its release for the first half of 2026.
Advanced Siri Launch Date
According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is aiming to revamp its AI strategy, with a revamped version of Siri for the iPhone playing a pivotal role. Internally, the tech giant is targeting a Spring 2026 release, potentially as part of the iOS 26.4 update.
At WWDC 2025, held just days ago, Apple offered a glimpse of the long-awaited Siri upgrades, reaffirming that the enhancements would arrive in the “coming year.” This marks a significant delay from the initially expected Fall 2024 timeline. Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, stated that the company needed “more time to reach our high quality bar.”
The delay reportedly stems from technical challenges in integrating Siri’s two distinct architectures. With iOS 18, Apple introduced a new AI platform while keeping the original system for routine tasks like calls and timers. However, merging the two led to persistent bugs, ultimately requiring Apple to rebuild Siri from scratch.
While Apple still plans to showcase the updated Siri alongside the iPhone 17 lineup at its September event, Gurman notes that this timeline is contingent on avoiding further setbacks. The report also highlights internal tensions, with Apple’s software team blaming the marketing division for creating unrealistic expectations, while marketers claim they simply followed the projected timelines.
