Jharkhand is taking major steps towards paperless healthcare under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The move aims to make health services faster, more transparent and easier for both patients and healthcare providers.

Additional Health Secretary Bidyanand Sharma Pankaj shared this update while reviewing the progress of ABDM in Gumla district. He said the state government wants all health services, including private hospitals and clinics, to fully follow the digital system.

“Our focus is to ensure full compliance by private health establishments as well,” Pankaj said during the review meeting.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of ABDM in Gumla, Lohardaga and Simdega districts. Civil surgeons from all three districts attended the discussion, along with representatives from telecom companies and private healthcare providers.

Officials discussed the digitisation of key ABDM platforms. These included Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA), which allow patients to store and access medical records digitally, and the Health Facility Registry (HFR), which records details of hospitals and clinics. The Health Professional Registry (HPR), which maintains data on doctors and healthcare workers, was also reviewed.

Another important topic was the use of e-hospital services. These services help patients with online registration, digital appointments, and easy access to reports, reducing paperwork and waiting time at hospitals.

Pankaj also stressed the importance of rolling out Health Management and Information Systems (HMIS) in all community health centres across Jharkhand. He said HMIS will improve data tracking, planning and delivery of healthcare services.

The state government believes that digital healthcare will improve efficiency, reduce errors, and ensure better coordination between public and private health services. With ABDM, Jharkhand aims to build a modern, patient-friendly healthcare system that relies less on paper and more on secure digital records.
