Xiaomi India is preparing for a major year in 2026, and Chief Operating Officer Sudhin Mathur has shared what users can expect. The company is shifting its long-known strategy from “value for money” to “value for experience.” This change began in 2025 as the market and consumer needs evolved. Xiaomi grew in categories like TVs, tablets, and wearables, and it now holds the third position in India’s smartphone market with over 13% share.
Mathur explained that the company now focuses on its three clear sub-brands — Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco. This clarity will become even stronger in 2026 as Xiaomi positions itself as a complete ecosystem brand, not just a phone maker.
One of the most awaited launches is the next Redmi Note series, likely the Redmi Note 15 coming early in 2026. The Redmi Note has always been a strong performer for Xiaomi in India. Mathur shared that the new series will fix many past issues based on user feedback. The big highlight is long-term software support — four years of OS updates and six years of security patches. This, he said, will reassure users about durability and reliability.
Xiaomi has also shifted to an omni-channel model, offering the same products at the same prices both online and offline. It is also strengthening its presence in large retail stores where customers can try devices in person. The upcoming Redmi Note phones are expected to bring improvements in camera quality, battery life, screen brightness, and after-sales service.
AI will play a bigger role in Xiaomi’s mid-range phones. While many AI features focus on photos and editing, Mathur hinted that Xiaomi will expand AI into more practical areas, aiming to lead the mid-range market with smarter and more useful features.
Apart from phones, Xiaomi is planning a big push in IoT products in 2026. This includes smart devices across categories to build a complete connected ecosystem. However, new government quality rules have slowed some product launches.
With 2026 just around the corner, Xiaomi is gearing up for an exciting year. The new Redmi Note series is expected soon, bringing major upgrades and stronger user experience.
