Tata AutoComp Systems Limited has officially entered India’s railway sector by showcasing advanced railway mobility technologies at the International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE) 2025, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from October 31 to November 3. The event marked a major step for the well-known automotive component manufacturer as it expands beyond automobiles into rail transport.

Diversifying into Rail Innovation

The company displayed a range of railway solutions, including propulsion systems, seating, composite materials, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) technologies. The booth was inaugurated by Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh and BEML Chairman Shantanu Roy. Tata AutoComp’s display drew attention from several railway officials, including representatives from Indian Railways, public sector undertakings like BEML, BHEL, and RITES, and private players such as Alstom, Hitachi, and Titagarh.

To strengthen its railway offerings, Tata AutoComp has tied up with leading international companies — Škoda Electric, Compin Fainsa, and Air International Thermal Systems. These collaborations aim to bring global railway technology to India while keeping costs suitable for the local market.

Supporting India’s Railway Modernization

Vice Chairman Arvind Goel said the railway sector is a natural extension of Tata AutoComp’s automotive expertise. The company plans to use its strong engineering and manufacturing capabilities to meet the growing needs of Indian Railways. Managing Director and CEO Manoj Kolhatkar added that Tata AutoComp hopes to become a trusted partner in the country’s railway modernization efforts.

Škoda Electric’s CEO Radek Svoboda shared that the partnership focuses on developing energy-efficient propulsion systems for intercity and metro trains. Compin Fainsa President Marc Jammot highlighted lightweight and comfortable seating solutions designed for improved passenger experience.

With Indian Railways investing heavily in modernization projects such as Vande Bharat and metro expansions, the railway equipment market is rapidly growing. Tata AutoComp’s entry shows how automotive companies are now turning their focus toward railway innovation — combining experience in large-scale manufacturing with new opportunities in India’s evolving mobility landscape.
