Google’s Gemini AI assistant is reportedly expanding its split-screen switch feature to standard candybar Android smartphones. This option was earlier limited to tablets and foldable devices, but now more users may soon get the benefit. The feature allows Gemini’s text box to turn into a split-screen view quickly, making multitasking easier.

What Is the Split-Screen Switch?

The split-screen switch lets users drag Gemini’s prompt bar to the middle of the display. This instantly divides the screen, with Gemini taking one half and another app running on the other side. It works well for tasks like referencing information while messaging or browsing.

Expansion to Candybar Phones

  • First spotted in Google app v16.35 beta.
  • Confirmed working on Pixel 9 devices.
  • Not functional yet on Pixel 10 Pro XL or OnePlus 10R.

How It Works

Step 1: Invoke Gemini by activating the assistant.
 Step 2: Drag the prompt bar into the middle of the screen.

This feature can also be used horizontally on devices supporting horizontal split screens.
